SMS Messaging Terms

1. SMS Messaging Overview
TesseraVault provides optional SMS text message notifications as part of its secure document collection platform. SMS text messages are sent by TesseraVault on behalf of its users (professionals and businesses) to their clients to deliver secure document upload links and related notifications.
2. Consent to Receive SMS Text Messages
TesseraVault requires explicit opt-in consent before any SMS text message is sent. No SMS messages are ever sent without the following consent workflow:
Opt-In Workflow
- A TesseraVault user creates a document request and optionally enters the recipient's phone number.
- A checkbox labeled "Send a one-time SMS text message with the upload link to this number" appears. This checkbox is unchecked by default — no SMS is sent unless the user explicitly checks it.
- When checked, the following consent disclosure is displayed directly below the checkbox:
"By checking this box, I confirm the recipient has agreed to receive SMS text messages from TesseraVault at the number provided. The recipient will receive 1-3 messages related to this document request (upload link, reminders, and confirmations). Message and data rates may apply. Recipient can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time."
- The user must submit the form with the checkbox checked to trigger SMS delivery. No SMS is sent if the checkbox is left unchecked.
Consent Responsibility
By checking the SMS checkbox, the TesseraVault user certifies that the recipient has expressly agreed to receive SMS text messages from TesseraVault at the phone number provided. TesseraVault users are solely responsible for obtaining this consent from their clients before enabling SMS delivery. TesseraVault does not send unsolicited messages.
3. Types of Messages Sent
TesseraVault sends the following types of SMS messages:
- Document request notifications: A message informing the recipient that documents have been requested, including a secure upload link.
- Expiry reminders: A reminder that a document request is approaching its expiration date, with a link to complete the upload.
- Upload confirmations: A notification to the requesting professional when a client uploads a document, including upload progress status.
4. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on usage. Typically, recipients receive 1-3 messages per document request (an initial notification, an optional expiry reminder, and an optional upload confirmation). Messages are only sent in connection with active document requests.
5. Opting Out / Stop Messages
Recipients can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message received from TesseraVault. After opting out, no further SMS messages will be sent to that phone number. Recipients may also contact the TesseraVault user who initiated the request and ask them not to send further SMS messages.
6. Help
For help with SMS messages, reply HELP to any message received from TesseraVault, or contact us at [email protected].
7. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. TesseraVault does not charge for SMS messages, but your mobile carrier may charge standard messaging fees. Please contact your carrier for details about your messaging plan.
8. Privacy
Phone numbers provided to TesseraVault are used solely for delivering SMS messages related to document requests. We do not sell, share, or use phone numbers for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are stored securely and associated only with the relevant document request. For more information, see our Terms of Service.
9. Supported Carriers
SMS messages are supported on all major U.S. carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others. Carrier support may vary and delivery is not guaranteed.
